We discussed Louise Amoor&#8217;s <em>Cloud Ethics: Algorithms and the Attributes of Ourselves and Others<\/em>. It was again a lively and invigorating discussion. Thanks to everyone who participated!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doug Eacho&#8217;s Invitation prior to the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Louise Amoore is a Professor of Geography at the University of Durham, and her&nbsp;<em>Cloud Ethics: Algorithms and the Attributes of Ourselves and Others<\/em>&nbsp;(Duke, 2020) has generated a lot of attention from scholars in media studies, STS, and political science. I expect it will be cited widely for years to come. As with our previous author Kate Crawford, though, this book represents a firmly established set of discourses from social theory applying itself to new technical advancements \u2013 Amoore\u2019s ample citations of Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida, Donna Haraway, and N.K. Hayles will make this familiar reading for many of us. The question is: is this theoretical tradition up to the task?
